Let us for a moment pause to look on the topic: Regaining Focus and Emulating Jesus Christ.
Emulating Jesus Christ begins with us as believers of Jesus Christ asking ourselves the question,
What has become our central focused? Are we more focused on the amount of money that is in our bank accounts, is it the food we intend to eat later or is it our finances and obligations? If we dig deeper, what are we most focus on, is it getting a new car, a house or is it that dream job?
If our central focus isn’t about serving humanity and seeking to plunder hell and populate heaven, then we would be far from being like our Savior Jesus Christ.
God wants to remind us to regain focus and emulate Jesus Christ.
When he {Jesus} was on this earth he was about his father’s business; so we need to do the same. Jesus gave us a command. He said in Matthew 28 verse 19 “Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Winning souls for his kingdom should be the primary focus for all believers. All the things that you desire on this earth leave it to Jesus. Matthew 6 verses 33 say but seek first the kingdom and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. He has already promised you these things, so you don’t have to focus on them so much, just seek his kingdom and his righteousness.
We have to emulate Christ. Jesus served and had compassion for the people. Matthew chapter 9 verses 35-36 say that “Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. When he saw the multitude, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”
We need to ask ourselves the question, do we have compassion for people as Jesus did? How many times someone comes in our path and we missed the opportunity to share Jesus with them. We need to have compassion for the lost and unsaved. We have to share salvation with them. Jesus said in Luke chapter 5 verse 32; “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” We also need to have compassion for the sick, blind, lame, brokenhearted, oppressed and those in prison. How many times we saw someone on the streets and they are poor, beatdown and have nowhere to go and you pass them. We cannot emulate the priest and the Levite in Luke chapter 10 verses 33-37 who on their journey saw a man that was beaten and left for dead on the road and kept on walking.
The Good Samaritan emulated Christ when he saw the man; he had compassion on him and took care of him. Luke chapter 4 verse 18 says; “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor: he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
God has anointed us to use the gifts that he has given us not for self-glory but for winning souls. As we observe humanity, no matter where in the world you look; it is easy to find so many individuals filled with vain desires and selfishness, we should be encouraged to regain focus and emulate Christ; for we are the light of this world.
Father Jesus, I pray that you will help us to focus on your purpose for our lives on this earth. Help us to always have compassion for others. Teach us to emulate your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
